Getting Excited About Playing Darts With The Kiwi Darts Team At The Yakuza Kiwi Masters Tournament
The first game of the Kiwi Masters was the very successful Yakuza Kiwi 2. This sharp new sequel of the hit game has been developed in association with the leading company Sega and the makers of Sonic and other popular games. I believe it is fair to say that this game takes inspiration from two of the biggest selling Wii games of recent years. The game is set in New Zealand and players take on the roll of a professional Kiwi who must travel across to take part in the world famous tournament.
The game opens up with a prologue that sets the scene for what is to follow. We find out that two travelling entertainers have crashed their helicopter into a turnstile at a popular tourist attraction. Now, not only does this spoil the entertainment for everyone but also jeopardises the lives of two Japanese tourists. Their death leads to heavy emotional scenes as the helicopter lands and the bodies are dragged through the streets. The police then show up with a hasty decision to book the pair a lengthy jail term. This upsets the already volatile situation further.
As you can expect, much will hinge on which team makes it to the final game. Two heats are opened up and each team is required to bring five players with them to the tournament. Once all players have been checked in, the team captains then select players to form their teams. First comes the team with the strongest players and then the opposing team in what is known as the PvP stage.
Each player on each team starts with ten darts each. Players start off by playing against the computer generated player; these players are set to display the same style of play as the live versions. So basically, if you play a perfectly serviceable darts game, then the chances are that you will win the same amount of darts. But, if you start off with a bang as the competition gets underway you stand a better chance of making it to the end of the tournament and claim a very significant prize – the chance of winning the darts tournament.
Each team starts off with one player. That player then drops into a pit on the centre of the playing area and tries to pop out. If he is successfully pulled out, then his team has been eliminated; if not, they will be given another go at the PvP stage before being declared victorious. On winning, they earn two points and take home the trophy.
In the end, if your team wins the tournament you walk away with a considerable prize. There are some incredibly exciting and addictive modes which players can pick and choose from. The multi-player mode is where you and your friends can play against each other online. You can also compete against the Aussie team, who are the world champions, or against the English competition, who boast some of the best players in the world.
